Kristie Finnan, RD, LDN graduated from Penn State University with her BS in Nutrition. After College she went to Framingham State University where she was working on her Masters Degree in Nutrition Education (MEd), completed her Dietetic Internship and passed her Registered Dietitian Exam in 1996. Ironically, she worked her way through Grad School as a Dewar’s Scotch girl in the Pubs in Boston. In addition to being a Dietitian, she is also a published children’s book author and has been blogging since 2007. Over the past five years blogging, she has become a techie geek who loves to design websites, network via social media (in particular twitter) & use the creative side of her brain via photography and writing. Her latest obsessions are Pinterest & Foursquare where you’ll find her giving nutrition tips in a neighborhood near you.
Kristie’s diverse background includes working in: Restaurants & Catering, Fitness, Clinical Research, Business, Sales & Marketing, Non-for Profit and Publishing. This experience coupled with being a Mom of 3 little ones allows her to look at life from a large lens where her glass is almost always 1/2 full (usually coffee!)
For the last 15 years (Until November 1, 2011) she worked full time in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry where she saw first hand how important the role of food plays in our daily lives and how what we eat can contribute to many different diseases. Her favorite specialties were Pediatrics and Dermatology where she spent 4 and 7 years of her career. She learned a lot about pediatric health and skin care.
After several “Ah-Ha” moments working in Oncology sales (the last 2 years of her biotech career) & having her family’s life effected by cancer, Kristie has decided to follow her passion for Food & Nutrition with a bit of Fashion and flair and launched DivaDietitian.com. She is determined to make a difference by sharing her knowledge of Health & Nutrition with others while making it realistic and fun. Kristie is a Nutrition Counselor & Educator in Doylestown, PA. She also is a consultant to other RDs. She enjoys helping colleagues with website development, branding and Sales & Marketing Strategies. She is also the Founder of The Doylestown Nutrition Network.
Kristie is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietitics and is part of the 1) The Entrepreneurial Nutrition and 2) The Food and Culinary practice groups and 3) Pediatric Practice Group. She is also a Campaign Volunteer for Kids Eat Right. Campaign Volunteers are the on-the-ground force behind Kids Eat Right and the quality nutrition approach to childhood obesity prevention — and are supporting the goals and tactics of the Academy’s Childhood Obesity Prevention Coalition.
Another short term goal is to complete her Masters Degree in Nutrition Education (just a few courses away.) Kristie is also a Margaret Mead Lifetime Member of the Women’s Business Forum, a 1st Grade Homeroom Mom, Girl Scout leader and Girls Soccer Coach.
She lives with her husband, three kids and silly English Setter in Bucks County, PA. When she isn’t working, writing, doing laundry or playing with her kids, she spends her time experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes, baking cupcakes, getting muddy in her garden & taking pictures. When she manages to find any extra “me” time, you will find her getting a pedicure, shopping for new makeup, taking a yoga class or on her deck with friends and a glass of wine.
