The Skinny on Getting Gorgeous in NYC.

It’s been a while since I’ve had a fun trip into NYC to visit with friends.  Thank you to Audrey McClelland and Vera Sweeney for setting up this awesome event and giving me a reason to get out!

photo 2 244x300 The Skinny on Getting Gorgeous in NYC.I had a relaxing train ride up with my friend Jackie Cascarano, Founder and creative director of Lock & Mane.  We were able to read a magazine, follow everyone’s adventures on Twitter and catch up on the latest in our crazy lives.  I honestly can’t remember the last time I sat still that long.  After getting to New York City, we stopped at a restaurant called Il Bastardo for a healthy lunch, glass of wine & Mimosa.

Below is a list of the sponsors we got to meet.  Degree was the main sponsor.shopafrolic raffle 224x300 The Skinny on Getting Gorgeous in NYC. Personally, I was especially thrilled to meet Liz Lange after wearing her maternity line with all three of my kids.  I will say I’m happy that I am NOT wearing her maternity line any longer!!

What I didn’t know about Liz Lange is that she is the co-founder of  a fun site called www.Shopafrolic.com. which is a super awesome destination shopping site.  Being the shoe girl I am….fingers crossed that I win the shoe raffle!

The other sponsor I was thrilled to see was Georgetown Cupcakes.   I’ve recently been watching them on TLC on Friday nights…amazing the cupcakes they create! So to actually bite into one of their creations was fabulous! Reminder to self…send them a copy of my book.

Anyway, I’m just starting to go through the giant swag bag I came home with.  I will tell you more about that as I try the products out.

HairTinsel 150x150 The Skinny on Getting Gorgeous in NYC.And if you are one of the many women who asked me, “What’s sparkling in your hair?”  Here is the skinny on the bling…

It’s called Hair Tinsel.  A few days before the event, I went to get my hair colored.  After telling my hairsylist about heading up to NYC on Saturday, she suggested some fun hair tinsel.  It’s basically very fine strands of a sparkly gold product that sort of weaves into your hair.  You can wash it, dry it, flat iron it and curl it (that’s if you dont’ have poker straight hair like me!)   Since I never do anything too exciting or drastic to my hair I thought, “Fun-why not!”  It apparently lasts a few weeks too…so far it’s still sparkling!
